The Drobo Traditional Council in the Bono Region has issued a fine of GHC6,000 and six sheep for anyone found sharing or reposting nude photos or videos of young women from the area on social media. This decision follows the recent spread of explicit content involving young women from Drobo that went viral online.
Led by Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II, the Paramount Chief of the Drobo Traditional Area in the Jaman South Municipality, the council made it clear that distributing such content is considered a serious offense.
At a press conference in Drobo, Nana Ama Foriwaa II, the Krontihemaa (sub-queen) of the council, strongly criticized what she called the “unlawful redistribution†of the videos and images. She described the situation as regrettable and unacceptable, noting that the circulation of the explicit content has brought disgrace to the victims, their families, the community, and the Traditional Council.
Nana Abena Tamea, the Gyaasehemaa (another sub-queen), also denounced the act, labeling it a taboo in their culture. She advised the youth to be mindful of what they share on social media to avoid facing consequences.
