On the 18th of June 2023,the Sawaba community in Kumasi witnessed a heartwarming display of compassion and generosity as the Asakia Foundation, together with a dedicated team of volunteers, reached out to support individuals affected by streetism. Led by the foundation’s founder, Asakia Hawawu Hanaan, along with Miss Carolina, Mr. Alhaji Mustapha, Miss Mary, Mr. Brown, and Mr. George, the outreach aimed to provide much-needed assistance to 100 individuals facing the challenges of life on the streets.
The donation effort encompassed a range of essential items, including clothing, bags, refreshments, sanitary pads, and basic necessities such as toothbrushes and toothpaste. These items were carefully selected to address immediate needs and offer a sense of comfort and dignity to those who often go unnoticed in society.
