Health Minister warns heads of training institutions to refrain from using intimidation tactics.

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has firmly cautioned heads of health training institutions against using intimidation or undue pressure to influence his work. Addressing members of the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions (COHHETI) during a stakeholder meeting on April 16, 2025, the Minister emphasized the need for open dialogue, mutual respect, and professionalism when handling issues within the health training sector.

He made it clear that his office welcomes constructive conversations but warned that any actions aimed at stirring tension or forcing decisions through pressure would not be accepted.

“If you have concerns and wish to meet with me or anyone at the Ministry, our doors are always open. But don’t create trouble before approaching us. Discussions held in my office will remain private,” he assured.

Mr. Akandoh also raised concerns about the practice of some institutional heads inciting students or escalating issues into the public domain without first trying to resolve them through official channels.

“To those who think that if a decision from the Ministry doesn’t favor them, the best way forward is to skip follow-ups and incite students to protest — I want to be clear — I will not be intimidated,” he firmly stated.

He reaffirmed his commitment to transparent, cooperative leadership and warned against any deliberate efforts to undermine the Ministry’s authority, urging COHHETI members to use the appropriate administrative pathways to resolve concerns.
