Meet Cadence Band — Ghana’s Electrifying Mix of Highlife, Afrobeat, Soul, Funk, and Jazz.
Accra, Ghana – 5th August 2025 – A new wave is rising in Ghana’s live music scene. Meet Cadence Band – a five-piece collective of seasoned instrumentalists and one magnetic vocalist delivering a refreshing blend of Afrobeat, highlife, soul, funk, and jazz. Formed in 2020 in the heart of Accra, Cadence is redefining what it means to experience live music in West Africa.
With roots deeply grounded in Ghanaian culture and rhythm, Cadence Band creates vibrant, layered sounds that move audiences—whether in intimate venues or festival stages. Known for their tight arrangements, electrifying stage energy, and emotionally rich performances, the group has quickly become a staple on the live circuit, performing across cities in Ghana and beyond.
“We started with nothing but a love for music and a passion for bringing people together through sound,” says Aaron Ocran, the band’s keyboardist and leader. “From day one, the goal was to create something authentic, something alive—and that’s what Cadence is about.”
The band’s early formation also included Desmond Ato Bonney, whose creative input helped shape its foundation.

Behind the scenes, Cadence Band is steered by manager Lydia Abbeyquaye, whose vision has been instrumental in shaping the band’s growth and visibility within Ghana’s live music space.
Currently gearing up for an exciting new season of shows and creative releases, Cadence Band is poised to become a powerful voice in the evolving Afro-fusion movement—starting right here in Ghana.
