KOD Foundation Donates 50 Bags of Cement, GH10K To Bluelight Fire Victims.
Former NUGS President and Chief Executive Officer of the Keen Of Development (KOD) Foundation, Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel on Thursday led youthful elements of his outfit to visit the Bluelight Market arena which recently got burnt.
The visit by the Foundation CEO and members was to afford them the opportunity to see at first hand the state of the market and how traders were coping with the situation.
Touring the place in the company of the market leaders after being welcomed to the arena, Mr Kyeremeh popularly known as KOD inspected the site with his team.
Occasionally pausing to greet the traders who had mounted tents and parasols to sell their leftover goods, Mr Kyeremeh encouraged them to have hope in God for a turnaround of their situation.
Address:
Addressing the trader unions including the media, Mr Kyeremeh, a native of Kwabre East consoled the victims of the dawn inferno, stating that his Foundation share in their grief.
The Foundation CEO also urged the traders to have hope and be assured of the group’s support in every way they could be of help.
Mr Kyeremeh on behalf of his group donated 50 bags of cement to the traders and added GHC10.000.00 to help them in their reconstruction efforts.
“I came here today to show that as a former students leader the youth of the country were behind you because it is through your trading activities we have been able to go to school and to acquire knowledge. We are therefore presenting 50bags of cement and 10,000.00 to support you in your reconstruction efforts”, KOD stated.
Appreciation:
Showing appreciation, Mr Bobie Ansah, Leader of the United Traders Association of Bluelight thanked the former NUGS President for the gesture.
The market leader also commended the KOD Foundation for their donation, thoughtfulness and care.
Mr. Bobie Ansah however appealed to other private and public organisations to come to their aid to support them since many had lost their livelihoods.
“We the United Traders Association of Bluelight are grateful to KOD and his Foundation for the show of care, empathy and kindness. We are comforted that the youth of Ghana stands ready to support us every step of the way”, the Leader stated.
Security Situation:
Meanwhile, Mr Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel has tasked the KMA to rather than the use of brute force consider ways of reasoning with the trader unions so they could get the rebuilding efforts on the way.
Mr Kyeremeh was also worried that scores of Police and Military men had swarmed up the Bluelight Market arena during his visit.
He noted that such intimidating atmospheres was a cause for concern since those trading at the arena were predominantly women and old people.
“Some of us were educated by parents who sold here and so it is not good for the KMA to create this intimidating atmosphere with security persons all over when all that the traders are doing here is to sell their items in peace”, Mr Kyeremeh cautioned.
He was ably accompanied by his constituency (Kwabre East) party executives and other party faithfuls including Mr Anyamesem who is the Constituency Secretary and Mr Silas populary known as SBG who is the constituency Youth Organizer.
