- A fire outbreak at Kantamanto market in Accra caused significant damage early Thursday morning, January 02, 2025. Over 100 shops were razed down in the blaze, which began around 1:00 am.
The Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly, dispatching about 13 fire tenders from across Accra to combat the flames. Firefighters battled the inferno throughout the morning, successfully bringing it under control.Fortunately, no casualties have been reported as a result of the fire.
However, reports indicate that the extensive damage to shops will undoubtedly have a significant impact on local businesses and livelihoods.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities are working to determine the origin of the blaze and assess the full extent of the damage.
