All African nationals can now enter Ghana without a visa, effective before January 6, 2025

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has approved visa-free entry for all African nationals to Ghana, making it one of the few African countries to offer this privilege.
The executive decision, signed on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, aligns with Ghana’s commitment to improving the free movement of people, goods, and services across the continent.
Ghana now joins Rwanda, Seychelles, The Gambia, and Benin in offering visa-free access to all African passport holders.
This move is a key step toward strengthening the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and promoting economic integration across Africa. Akufo-Addo had previously announced this initiative during the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD 2024) in January, and the policy is set to take effect before the end of his term in January 2025.
In his keynote address at the APD, Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of visa-free travel, stating that the government is already working on implementing the policy.
