Profile of RNMA PRO Hon. Razak Awudu
Hon. Awudu Razak Issifu is a humble enthused Muslim young man who attended Adu Gyamfi Senior High School in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He furthered to the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Nalerigu in the year 2019 to pursue Diploma in Registered General Nursing and completed in the year 2022. While in the nursing training institution, he was the Student Representative Council (SRC)/ Local Ghana Nurses and Midwives Association (GNMTA) President and also the Ghana Muslim Student Association (GMSA) Public Relations Officer from 2021 – 2022.
Whiles in position, Hon. Razak was able to achieve a number of achievements and they have been listed below.
ACADEMICS
Retrieval of furniture from the various hostels and rentals apartments and maintenance of furniture to enhance teaching and learning.
We were able to request for students to do self-placement of their preferred facilities across the country during clinical sessions to curb the challenges we used to face when students were placed for clinical session only within the region.
We were able to provide data sims to the general student body with the support of management to enhance academic activities.
We were able to visit the various classes on regular basis to collect data to alert management to provide the requisite resources for teaching and learning.
The school library which was in abeyance was brought to full functioning during our tenure of office.
During our tenure of office, the library was furnished with over 150 banquet chairs with the support of management.
The library was again put in a modernized form with electronic system.
SRC in partnership with GMSA and chaplaincy organized educative programs on campus.
HEALTH
Health services were rendered to students on campus and at their dwelling apartments.
Visits were made on weekly basis and anytime there was the need to check on our students who were admitted in the hospital at Baptist Medical Center and other nearby facilities.
During our welcoming of freshers, the students were orientated and educated on the need to vaccinate against covid-19 and to ensure effective functioning of their National Health Insurance cards.
Introduction of the school clinic was done during our tenure of office as SRC with the support of management.
Blood donation exercise was done on countless basis to save the lives of our students who needed blood.
Visits were made to some students in their homes due to emergency cases to ascertain their health status and to give them the little support we could with the support of management.
We were able to organize educative programs such as cervical and breast cancer awareness and screening.
DINING
We were able to liaise with management to fence the kitchen to ensure that our meals are prepared in a hygienic condition.
Aprons were provided to our able food reps to enhance serving of food.
Some food components were modified to suit the interest of the students.
During our tenure of office as SRC, components of meals that escaped were being replaced as soon as possible.
We were able to organize a party for our students by serving them special beef during our SRC week celebration.
During our tenure of office as SRC, registration to dining was simplified to suit the interest of our students.
We were able to liaise with our dining hall masters to ensure that food components like sardine served in advance to curb the frequent shortages.
ENVIRONMENT
We were able to liaise with management to provide pavement with flowers to beautify our environment during our tenure of office.
During our tenure of office, we were able to liaise with management to provide transformer to enhance lighting system on campus.
We were able to provide over 25 metal benches as sitting and discussion places for students and staff.
We were able to liaise with management to start the construction of a multipurpose gathering place for students.
During our tenure of office that our medical laboratory assumed its full functioning with modernized equipment.
Procurement of modernized entrance with fencing for the school as a long-term project to provide security and beautification.
HOSTELS
We were able to liaise with management to provide some beds to the hostels that were not having beds.
We were able to supply the hostels with detergents on monthly basis with the support of management.
With the support of management, we were able to supply fans, bulbs among other amenities to some of the hostels.
Issues concerning dues payments at the hostels level were resolved amicably.
We were able to generate a link to collect data from our students to know those staying in the hostels and outside in order to liaise with management to provide the basic necessities.
COMMUNICATION AND PUBLICATION
We were able to organize several general assembly meetings to seek and address concerns of students.
Information concerning students’ interest and welfare were published on regular basis to our dear students.
Instagram page was created to serve as a platform for students on campus to enhance interactions and socialization.
SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
We were able to standardize the football field to enhance our games.
We were able to organize friendly matches, freshers’ games, interdepartmental and SRC week games to enhance cordiality and fitness.
The SRC was able to purchase sporting items for the school team to enhance sporting activities.
We were able to maintain the entertainment gadgets to its full functioning.
Entertainment programs were organized on weekly basis and during SRC week celebration to release stress and bring unity and togetherness.
We were able to organize a standard SRC Excellence Award for the first time in the history of the college.
As part of entertainment programs, the SRC was able to organize pageantry performances, economic empowerment and leadership development.
As part of our SRC week celebration, we were able to organize entrepreneur talk and leadership development skills.
We were able to organize training session on detergent preparation among others.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
For the first time in the history of the school, we were able to welcome and direct freshers to the hostel to prevent them from being stranded.
We were able to welcome zonal GNMTA executives to seek and address students concerns.
We were able to have online meetings with the zonal and national GNMTA as well as NAHSAG to discuss and address issues of students concerns and welfare.
We were able to attend and partake in the quiz and debate competition during the zonal week celebration organized at Pkembe.
During the 30th annual national GNMTA delegates congress, we were able to produce two national executives, two contestants from our college to be part of the best six contestants and winning the miss GNMTA in addition as first in history.
We were able to win the best serving PRO and commissioner and 1st runner up best serving president as well as the 1st runner up best writer of the year.
We were able to attend a press conference organized at Kumasi to address issues of students’ allowance, spiking school bills and other related matters.
We were able to organize a foundation called “we care foundation” as part of the projects of our able MISS GNMTA to do a donation to one deprived community in the north-east region during the 2022 Ramadan with the support of some other students.
The SRC was able to organize SRC week celebration which was considered as one of the highest participated programs ever on campus.
During our tenure of office, we were able to champion the official formation and existence of other students’ associations like GNMTA and FAHSA to assist the SRC in the execution of their activities.
During my tenure of office as the SRC president, we were able to award certificates of recognition to the various reps across all classes as well as other students who contributed vehemently towards our achievements for the first time in the history of the school.
During my tenure of office as the SRC president, we were able to arrange for external bodies to render services towards the welfare of our dear students at their convenience on campus.
During my tenure of office as SRC president, we were able to open an SRC account to facilitate the activities of the SRC.
During my tenure of office as the SRC president, we were able to provide a documented recommendations as a guideline for the upcoming leadership for effective implementation of the short and long term SRC projects to ensure continuity and many more.
He is currently the National Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.) for 2023/2024 Rotational Nurses and Midwives year batch.
