Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), harbored aspirations of transitioning into a legislative role, but his hopes were dashed when he encountered a significant setback.
Despite his fervent efforts, Nyantakyi faced a staggering defeat, managing to secure a mere 35 votes during the parliamentary primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held in the Ejisu Constituency on April 13.
This outcome was particularly disheartening given the substantial turnout of approximately 1,081 delegates who participated in the voting process.
Nyantakyi’s journey to the voting center was fraught with challenges.
The night before the primary, he found himself detained at the hospital, yet he managed to overcome this hurdle and make it to the polling station.
However, his performance ultimately placed him in a distant 5th position on the final results sheet.
In stark contrast, the 2nd Deputy Constituency Chairman of the party emerged triumphant, securing a commanding victory with 393 votes.
Notably, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng faced formidable competition from Helena Mensah, who emerged as his closest contender in the fiercely contested primary election.
