The Association of Past Executives and Coordinators – Ashanti (APEC)has learnt with great grief, the shocking demise of our brother and a friend, Hon. Dr. John A. Kumah, whose sad death occurred on March 7, 2024.
Before joining national politics, he started his leadership role at Opoku Ware School where he served as the School Prefect and later became a founding member and the first President of the Ashanti Regional Students’ Representative Council (ARSRC), a community that was established on the grounds of nurturing student and political leaders as well as fostering dialogue as a pivotal tool in advocacy. As a former Regional Executive of ARSRC, Hon. John Kumah, a member of the Association of Past Executives and Coordinators (APEC) – Ashanti has been extremely instrumental in contributing his part to helping in the mentoring of Senior High School students in the Ashanti Region and the creation of enabling environments to student leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs.Notable amongst his many contributions is his remarkable donations to ARSRC initiatives geared towards supporting student Entrepreneurs in member institutions. Additionally, is his kind gesture of availing himself to help groom yearly elected Regional Executives of the council. Most importantly, the over 130 Second cycle institutions in the Ashanti Region and the over 300, 000 student population, all owe it to Hon. John Kumah for the existence a formidable student front such as the ARSRC.
He was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer for the National Entrepreneurial and Innovation Programme(NEIP) until elected as the Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency in 2020 and later as a Deputy Minister for Finance in 2021, an office he held until his death. He was indeed a BEACON OF HOPE to many.
On behalf of the Association, we extend our heartfelt sympathy to his wife, children and family. May the cherished memories of Hon. Dr. John Ampotuah Kumah bring you peace and serenity in the days to come.
REST IN POWER HONOURABLE DR. JOHN AMPONTUAH KUMAR.
